Our Mission The purpose of ASA is to advance the understanding and application of Adlerian psychology and promote effective approaches to parenting, counseling, teaching, and living, based on principles of respect, encouragement, and positive, meaningful interaction. Our mission is to provide learning opportunities for educators, counselors, parents, and individuals, based on the philosophy of Alfred Adler. Adler believed that it is necessary to understand individuals within their social context. Adler’s theory addresses crucial and contemporary issues such as: equality between the sexes, parent education, the influence of birth order, life style, and the holism of individuals. Adler’s concepts are now being universally applied in education, community programs, business and the arts, in addition to counseling, therapy, and clinical practice. OUR GOAL: The goal of ASA (Adlerian Society of Arizona) is to encourage the application and understanding of Individual (Adlerian) Psychology in the form of conferences, workshops, parent study groups, encouragement, exchanges, social activities, supervision, and social interest. Since its incorporation in 1979, ASA has influenced innumerable teachers, counselors, business people, parents, and authors who now live in all corners of the globe. |
